Stress & Migraines


After more than 25 years of work with migraines, I feel that the key is physical exam. You need to evaluate the neck and jaw first, to be sure that the problem is not physical.  Experience has taught me that very few patients have an examination of those areas before they are diagnosed with migraine and given medications. 


Everyone in NYC has stress. Stress makes existing conditions worse, and it can create new problems as well. My approach is to work with it from both sides. On the one hand I encourage the Yin practices of meditation, healthy diet and acupuncture. On the other side I encourage exercise to vent some of the stress. It takes a balanced approach to manage stress as it is a constant in our lives.
